Persistence III Taproom Launch 15/7

Join us for a very special Wolf of the Willows brewery experience, combining an in-depth brewery tour, back-vintage beer tasting, whiskey masterclass and The Gospel Whiskey pop-up cellar door.

Be guided by Wolf of the Willows Head Brewer, Josh Kendal and The Gospel Whiskey Co-Founder, Andrew Fitzgerald, as we explore the unique nature of rye whiskey and its influence on our AIBA Gold Medal Winning Persistence Barrel Aged Imperial Stout, a collaboration brew now in its third year.

The Wolf of the Willows Taproom will be hosting the Persistence III Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged Imperial Stout release, as an extension of The Gospel’s broader Rye July celebration, a month-long showcase of Rye Whiskey at select venues around Melbourne.

Tickets are $20 (+ booking fee) and spots are limited. Purchase your tickets now to avoid dissapointment! Available now via Eventbrite

Ticket price includes: Guided brewery tour, Persistence I, II & III tasting (2020, 2021 & 2022 Vintages), as well as tastings of The Gospel Straight Rye and Solera Rye whiskeys.

As an added bonus, Wolf of the Willows and The Gospel have partnered on a curated boilermaker menu, as well as hosting The Gospel’s pop-up cellar door at the Wolf of the Willows Taproom for the entirety of the weekend (Fri 15/7- Sun 17/7), where keen drinkers can take home a bottle of Whiskey produced by Australia’s only dedicated Rye Whiskey distiller.

The Beer:

This release is indeed a show of Persistence, the idea being originally conceived during COVID lockdowns in 2020, it seemed more than apt to partner with The Gospel Whiskey, Australia’s only dedicated Rye Whiskey distillery. Symbolic of the time, 'Rye' grain continues to grow even in harshest of conditions. Just like the challenge of a maze, we all take different paths, we all hit dead ends, but with persistence we all grow and come out the other side, much like Rye does.

Persistence III, part of the #barrelexchangeproject, is an exceptional Imperial Stout, brewed with a high proportion of rye malt, aged in hand selected Rye Whiskey Solera Barrels from The Gospel. The result is a multilayered, complex Imperial Stout, rich in Rye Whiskey barrel aged flavours of molasses, dark chocolate, cherry, liquorice and espresso.
